Words With More Than Friends

Words With More Than Friends

For some people, Words With Friends is just a game. A way to pass the time during your morning commute, flex your vocabulary skills, or revel in a sweet 3-letter, 13-pointer victory.

But now there’s something for everyone looking for something more. Introducing Words With (More Than) Friends, the only puzzle game that lets you test your intellectual compatibility with eligible users around the world.

It’s the same WWF you know and love with the added ability to direct message, Snapchat, or just play. If it turns into something more, well that’s up to you.

EPISODE 1—

AVO:
Meet Amanda. She’s a teacher, a dog lover, and a fierce crossword-puzzler.

AMANDA:
C’mon, girl!

Amanda calls for her dog and walks up the steps to her apartment.

As the door shuts, camera shows a man walking down the sidewalk. He’s dressed entirely in black. A small cat peeks out of his backpack and meows.

AVO:
This is Dax. He likes his coffee black. And his t-shirts. And his cat.

He walks up the steps to his own apartment, just a few doors down.

AVO:
Oh, and he lives three doors down.
They've been playing Words With Friends for six months now.

Amanda and Dax walk across the street at the same time, both going opposite directions. Both have their eyes glued to their phones.

AVO:
Look up! Classic millennials…

He plays 'alchemy.' She plays ‘chutzpah’ and wins by 5 points. He groans out loud. She laughs to herself as they both go their separate ways.

We watch them commuting to work, buying lunch, at the laundromat – in classic Nora Ephron fashion, each encounter is a near-miss.

AVO:
Oh, so close.

As Amanda walks her dog past Dax’s house, he rushes out the door to hail a cab. They miss each other by seconds.

AVO:
Hello! She’s right…if you just..annnd you missed her.

Finally, we see Amanda and Dax sitting a few tables away from each other at a coffee shop. She sees the WWF alert on her phone. Unknowingly, she starts thinking out loud.

AVO:
If only there was a different game…One that not only brought words together, but the people who played them.

AMANDA:
"What's a six-letter word that ends in K?"

From a few tables away, Dax puts down his newspaper.

DAX:
"Try embark.”

Their eyes meet. She smiles.

AMANDA:
"Thanks."

AVO:
Introducing Words with (More Than) Friends.  The new game from the people you know — that brings you together with people you don’t know… yet.

He nods, looking slightly embarrassed. Recovering, he pulls out his phone and checks the status of his own game.

Dax looks at the screen in disbelief. Then at Amanda. He makes his play and Amanda's phone vibrates with the notice of his move. Dax clears his throat.

DAX:
“Not bad. But you led me straight into that triple word space."

As music takes over scene/scene fades out, Dax gets up and introduce himself, and Amanda invites him to take her open seat.
